Alexia Fawkes wins the Anton Gielink award for 2024

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the Anton Gielink award for 2024 is Alexia Fawkes.

Alexia has been a client of Directions for over 7 years.  During that time Alexia has made significant progress in overcoming barriers to accessing the community.

Directions CEO Greg Massam presented Alexia with the award at the Directions head office in November.  In attendance were her parents Jessica and Jim, Operations Manager Beck Eddy, Client Liaison Officer Rob Gronow, and Alexia’s support worker Dawn Mills.  Special credit goes to Dawn, who has been supporting Alexia for many years.

The award was launched in 2023, on the suggestion of Craig Siggins, Directions’ longest serving employee as of 2022, when he retired after 14 years as a support worker.  On his retirement, he approached the CEO and the Board and suggested that Directions present an award to a client each year who inspires others.  Craig suggested the award be named after Anton Gielink, a client that Craig, and others from Directions, supported for many years. To that end, the award in Anton’s name has been funded for 10 years.
