The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is how support is provided to Australians under 65 years living with disability, their families and carers. It provides funding directly to individuals, who then choose their providers, such as Directions.

Directions is accredited to deliver NDIS-funded supports and services to help people with their day to day needs, as well as build capacity to achieve their goals in life whether at home, in the community or at work.

Our services are also available via a fee for service arrangement, please contact us for details.

Our NDIS-funded supports include:

  • Daily personal activities
  • Participation in community, social, economic and daily life activities
  • Therapeutic supports
  • Help with household tasks
  • Help with aids or equipment assessment, set up and training

NDIS funding is delivered according to support categories. You may not have all the support categories funded in your plan. Some people might have one or two support categories funded and others may have more.

The four NDIS core supports categories are:

  • Assistance with daily life
  • Accessing transport
  • Accessing consumables
  • Assistance with community participation

Funding is based on what is reasonable and necessary for your needs, in addition to the support provided by family, friends and other community and government services that you need to live your life and achieve your goals.

Developmental Disability WA (DDWA) have a great online resource about NDIS Plan Reviews and Appeals. The page goes through the 3 types of reviews that you can request when you want the NDIA to reconsider a decision. Click the link below to find out more.
