Cyndul Phillips wins the 2023 Anton Gielink Award

Directions has launched a new annual award to recognise inspirational clients.

The award was suggested by Craig Siggins, Directions’ longest serving employee as of 2022, when he retired after 14 years as a support worker.  On his retirement, he approached the CEO and the Board and suggested that Directions present an award to a client each year who inspires others.  Craig suggested the award be named after Anton Gielink, a client that Craig, and others from Directions, supported for many years. To that end, the award in Anton’s name has been funded for 10 years.

The inaugural Anton Gielink Award was presented to Cyndul Phillips.

At the award presentation, Craig spoke about Anton Gielink, and how he was an inspiration to him, not only in his ability to be positive despite his disabilities, but also for the generosity and kindness he showed to others.

Client Liaison Officer, Troy Fuller, spoke about why Cyndul Phillips was chosen for the award.  Cyndul has not allowed her blindness to stand in the way of her career and living her life to the fullest.  She has secured a job as a technology specialist in one of the largest consumer technology companies in the world.

After accepting the award from CEO, Greg Massam, Cyndul spoke about her job, and how she harnesses the latest technology into all aspects of her life.
