Occupational Therapy

The primary goal for Occupational Therapy is to provide the supports an individual needs to live and take part in the community.

Directions’ Occupational Therapy team provide positive behaviour support, organisational and independence skills, planning, budgeting, cooking, specialised equipment consultancy and inclusive employment opportunities.

Occupational therapists use a whole person perspective to work with individuals, groups and communities to achieve optimal health and wellbeing through participation in the occupations of life.

The term ‘occupation’ is used to describe all the everyday things we do in our life roles, but also the things we do to be who we are, the things we do to create a meaningful life and to engage with wider society and culture.

At Directions our focus is to create opportunities and build capacity. This provides flexibility to apply both person-and-family-centred practice and the ability to deliver wrap-around therapy.
